New EU country measures bring border chaos to goods transport 
 
The International Road Transport Union (IRU) has urged the European Union (EU) to “stand firm” against new COVID-19 measures imposed by several member states,which it says are beginning to cause chaos to goods transport by road across Europe, in particular, on the key trade route from Italy northwards across the Brenner Pass, as well as on East-West corridors.

Global supply chains ‘unlikely to fully recover this year’ 
 
Supply chain industry executives hold little hope for a global recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, although many still see opportunities to increase business activity in emerging markets, despite a shift in the factors driving such investments, the annual Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index survey today reveals.

Decline in UK road-borne exports also hitting imports 
 
A lack of demand for road freight capacity from the UK, as a result of export volumes to the EU falling well short of normal levels almost one month after the end of the Brexit transition period, is making it difficult for importers to find trucks willing to make the journey to Britain because it is less financially worthwhile for hauliers than was previously the case, according to the Road Haulage Association (RHA).

Brexit border checks trial causes long lorry queues in Kent 
 
Queues of trucks stretching for five miles unexpectedly built up in Kent earlier this week after the French started a trial of post-Brexit checks, according to The Guardian. 
 
Lorries on their way across the English Channel were forced to stop in long lines up to junction 11 on the M20 as they tried to approach the Eurotunnel entrance just outside Folkestone and the Port of Dover.

Get ready for Brexit 
 
The UK Government have announced that the UK will leave the European Union "come what may" on the 31st October. Whilst this has been fiercely debated in Parliament over the past week with calls for an extension to Article 50, the Prime Minister has stated he will not ask for an extension. 
 
We understand that our customers may well be feeling confused about what direction the UK is going in and whether there will be a deal agreed or whether the UK will leave with a no deal on the 31st October. 
 
There has been very little information published about how to prepare for Brexit until now.......
