Solent Stevedores £17.5 million rail freight growth at the Port of Southampton is now double award winning following a successful night at the RFG Awards. 
 
The award-winning project will complete at the end of the year creating an 18-acre site linking existing intermodal rail transport site with laden and empty container handling, storage, maintenance, and repair within a single site boundary.

HAULIERS CALL FOR BETTER FACILITIES "CHANGE IS OVERDUE" 
 
Drivers told the RHA of the grim reality of roadside facility standards during a visit to a local truck stop and called for nationwide improvements. 
 
The drivers who spoke to the RHA noted a lack value for the money paid due to limited food options, typically fast-food chains, or sandwiches, leaving drivers with a low sense of morale.

Cyclone shutters already congested ports on India's busy west coast 
 
All Indian ports along the coastline of Gujarat have halted operations until further notice in the wake of Cyclone Biparjoy heading towards the country’s north-west corridor. 
 
The affected ports are some of the country’s leading container handlers, such as Mundra, Pipavav and Hazira.

North Europe rates still falling, while the transpacific spikes 
 
Container spot rates from Asia to North Europe remained under pressure this week, while transpacific rates have been boosted by potential supply chain issues linked to US west coast industrial action and Panama Canal draught restrictions. 
 
As peak season orders continue to disappoint, the Freightos Baltic Exchange (FBX) Asia-North Europe component slumped 16% in the past seven days, to $1,195 per 40ft, which compares with $10,599 a year ago.

TWO NEW STENA LINE SHIPS TO BOOST HEYSHAM-BELFAST FREIGHT CAPACITY BY 80% 
 
Stena Line, the Irish Sea’s leading ferry company has announced that it is constructing two new bespoke freight ferries for its expanding Heysham-Belfast freight service. 
 
The multi-million-pound investment will significantly increase freight capacity on the route.
